I'm working on the US passenger side exhaust camshaft on cylinder 1. My degree wheel reads in 90* segments and has a 360* value displayed to find the duration of the cams. I think I'm getting confused by the 90* values of ABDC with the 360* values of the duration displayed on the degree wheel. Starting with the Right exhaust cam I rotated the engine clockwise until the exhaust cam lobe on cylinder 1 pushed the valve completely open. I then set up my dial indicator on that lifter parallel with the valve and found the peak lift of the lobe. I zeroed out my dial gauge at that peak lift point then used the .050" lift in both directions to get my degree wheel readings. Rotating counter-clockwise to .050" lift I had 203* ABDC Rotating clockwise to .050" lift I had 286.5* ABDC Adding up those two numbers and dividing by 2 gives me 244.75* so I rotated the crank until the degree wheel lined up with this value. The dial indicator was close to 0 but not quite. I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to get 115* BTDC centerline of the exhaust camshaft with these values.
